Astrology of 2022 Winter Solstice Chart

December 21st, 2022, is the Winter Solstice and this chart contains information about the upcoming three months for whatever nation's capital it is drawn on. Below you see it set for the White House in the District of Columbia, the seat of the United States Government.

The good news in this chart is no malefic is on an angle. Rather the Sun is on the Descendant and it is applying a trine to the midheaven. Though it is square Jupiter. This shows the president will be prominently noticed and heard during this period. He will likely be working with those we see as enemies and will be challenged by them, by international treaties, by international travel issues which may relate to imports and exports. Additionally he will be challenged by legislation and the Supreme Court.

The Moon trine Chiron, opposed by Mars, and quincunx the North Node, while sextile the South Node, indicates there is opportunity for healing our workplace, our health issues, our employment issues, while still being stressed over investments, the markets, issues regarding women, and corruption from the past. This includes the women's fight for what they desire, which is an absolute security of their physical bodies. The fight is with male energies, and the rhetoric they espouse, along with their dominance in the workplace, and areas of health in the past. Lots of stress here and a real battle of male and female energies ensue during this period.

Additionally, the Moon in this chart rules the GDP of the nation as well as our values, so this battle between a desire for expansion, integration and education verses lots of words without monetary backing as more corruption is uncovered, engaging a battle of values, that may bring on some kind of boycotts which will affect the GDP.

Saturn, which is the most elevated planet, ruler of the seventh (relationships), eighth (resources,) and ninth (international travel & media) houses, is activating the midpoint between Mercury and Pluto, while making a quincunx to the second (GDP & values) house cusp. This is a very strong statement for numerous reasons, it indicates a strong focus on money, how we share these resources, that is to say banking and mortgages, as well as how we deal with international supply, media, and how we are seen on the world stage. It also speaks to legislation, the cabinet with emphasis on banking, finance and transportation, as well as issues regarding the oceans, travel, and oil. All of these things are being focused on in this period and there is both frustration, stress and a need to master the issues. Because both Saturn and Neptune are in rulership, we can expect the issues they represent to rise to the top. This would be laws, legislation, treaties, and judgments resulting from issues of lies and corruption, that may be through news, or regarding the oceans or oil or some other underground resource. This combination may also indicate a very icy winter.

The markets ruled by Venus in this chart are not stable, but rather changing, and will see a slight bump as Uranus stations direct January 20 – 21st. While the period between February 12 to February 16th could cause some major stress in the markets. This period may also produce protests, regarding women, children, education, military, health, and employment.

A last note on the coming year, which actually runs into the next ingress chart in late March, but I wanted to point it out now because it is something to watch for. As we come to the end of March it appears that Vice President Kamala Harris will be playing a much more prominent role. She has been working in the background for the most part since the inauguration, but something is changing as we come into March of 2023, and her role seems to take a much more prominent place.

Of course there are many more issues in this chart and the numerous other charts I have reviewed. There is never enough time to cover the things I see. But hopefully this helps guide you a little as life moves rapidly forward in this new Aquarian Age.

How Do You Create A Cardinal Ingress Chart?

Randy's Question:

If I read your blog correctly, which I really appreciated, it seems you put a great deal of significance on Cardinal Ingress charts including fixed stars placement at the time of the ingress. Is that correct? My follow up question which seems a bit elementary to me, yet I don’t know the answer myself, is how does one know the exact minute of a Cardinal Ingress or even the exact second of the ingress? Is there an Ephemeris that provided this information or does one need to do some sort of calculation to get the exact moment of the Sun’s ingress?

I hear you regarding the USA Chart and Mars retrograde near Saturn. I have not looked at the chart myself but I think I will in the near future. I hope our country starts to move in a better direction after the election, but I still think fear is a hot commodity and people seem willing to pay the high price of abating their civil liberties in the process. The founding mothers and fathers would be disappointed in what we have done with their great experiment.

Michele's Response:

The easiest way to set up a Cardinal Ingress is to use astrological software such as: Solar Fire, Kepler, or WinStar.

In each of these programs you can take the chart that pops up, the Now Chart, showing todays transits for whatever location you have your program set for, and change it to the location of the seat of the country, state or city you wish to look at.

Then take that chart into the window for return/ingress. In most of these programs, it will be the same part of the program that calculates a solar return.

In the window you should see an option for ingress, click on it and select the sun and which ingress you want. For our purpose it would be Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, or Libra, all the Cardinal signs.

Once you set that up, you should be back at your starting window with the new chart properly calculated. Then you can view it alone, with transits, with progressions or in a bi-wheel, or tri-wheel on the natal chart for the nation, state or city. Depending on your program, you should be able to view any variety of points from fixed stars by longitude, paran, or declination, as well as asteroids and Neptunian planets. With today's technology, you can view mid-point trees and graphic ephemeris as well. I have my chart pages set to show lunar actions, fixed stars, declinations, eclipse actions and Arabic parts. This gives a lot of information and it is as much as I can fit on a page.

The programs are wonderful because you can set your pages up for what you want in any arena, then name them accordingly. When I did a research project years ago on the NFL, I set specific parameters for the charts and named them NFL Games, NFL Players, and NFL Teams.

I find technology is the best asset an astrologer has developed. In our time we can research in ways that will bring astrology in a closer proximity to science then every before.

If you do not have an astrological software program, you can use an ephemeris to hand calculate a chart for the location you desire. You would construct the chart in the same manner you construct any chart, and you can find the time of the Sun's ingress at the bottom of the page in Michelsen's Ephemeris, and I believe it is in the same place in the Rosicrucian ephemeris. You can also look online and google time for solstices and equinoxes, and it should come up easily.

Naturally you would look at the months of December, March, June and September for the ingress times.

As for the Fixed Stars placement in a Mundane Chart, always remember the actions of a Fixed Star are only active when they are in very close conjunction, thirty minutes or less.

Back in July of 1998, I did a couple of television shows where I predicted there would be a major drowning in the Southern Hemisphere. I gave the date and approximate time. There could be no doubt about this because on this date Jupiter would Station on the Scheat, the Fixed Star of drowning. Unfortunately it did occur at the time I predicted in Pupua, New Genia, and two thousand people drowned. Anytime a planet stations on a Fixed Star you can be assured it will show and it will be a significant event for the nation it lands in.

Naturally this follows through in the Natal Charts of Individuals as well. It is the first thing you should observe when looking at upcoming years. What planets are stationing, and how do they activate my personal chart. Additionally you should examine them for Fixed Star contact.

Let me know if you have followed what I have written, and if it makes sense to you. Once you do it a few times, it will become simple.

Wishing you every blessing.
Best always, Michele

Mundane Astrology - Learn To Read A Solstice Chart

Randy asked:

I just read your blog where you forecast based on Solstice charts and some fixed star positions. I was wondering if I wanted to learn more about reading solstice charts and fixed stars where would I look and what would I read? I enjoyed the connections you made between astrology and the economy.

Michele's Response:

As to reading Solstice and Equinox charts, or the Cardinal Ingress charts, it is best to look for books on Mundane Astrology. There are quite of few of them nowadays.

I started with two books.
1) The Astrology of the Macrocosm, edited by Joan McEvers, my edition is dated 1989. In this book you will find a full chapter on The Ingress Chart by Judy Johns. If you go to UAC, check to see if Judy is giving any lectures or workshops on Mundane Astrology. Judy does quite a bit of research for corporate entities, and is on top of anything mundane.
2) Raphael's Mundane Astrology, this is a great book, tiny in size and I have no idea if it has ever been reprinted. It was published in England by W. Foulsham & Co. in 1932. It is excellent. I must assume someone picked up the rights and has republished it.

Then I would say, create some ingress charts for years past. Years where you know the big events that took place. Take the data off the pages, scramble them up and then see what you come up with. Check it against your list of events and see how accurate you have been. This is a great way to learn astrology - mundane or otherwise. In my intermediate classes I call these mystery charts. They are great for building confidence in new astrologers because through your accurate interpretations you realize how much you have learned and know.

Finally if you want to investigate other mundane books, please do. I am certain you will find some by Nicholas Campion, Marc Penfield, Diana Rosenburg, Jim Lewis and other great astrologers.

Here are some of the titles from my library:
Who's Who in Astrology by Marc Penfield
Tables of Planetary Phenomenon by Neil Michelson
Accurate World Horoscopes by Doris Chase Doane
The Astrological Chart of The United States from 1776 to 2141 by Gar Osten (this is a very interesting book, which does not use the ingress but rather the US natal charts for reference, and if you are new to this process you will find it very interesting to note that our nation has just had its progressed Mars go retrograde in an approaching aspect to natal Saturn. This signals internal strife, possible revolution, possible dictatorship and too many other things to go into here. But this alone can be worth your while to research if you are interested in the direction of our nation and also the markets. Most times when there are stock market crashes, depressions and major wars, Mars and Saturn are aspecting, so a progression like this is not to be overlooked.
The Earth In The Heavens by Johndro, Weiser 1973.
Horoscopes of the U.S. Presidents by Doris Chase Doane, 1971.

Now for Fixed Stars, these are the stars that create our constellations. They are called 'Fixed Stars' because they move very slowly, about one degree every hundred years. To realize what this means, you can compare it to the Moon which moves one degree about every two hours or Jupiter which moves thirty degrees about every year.

One of the best sources for mundane information on fixed stars is Ebertin's Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation. If this book has not been reprinted since 1994, you will notice that the degrees it gives for each star is only accurate to the year, 1950 so you will have to use math or a program to get their current degrees.

Other books on fixed stars include:
Brady's Book of Fixed Stars
by Bernadette Brady, and
The Fixed Stars and Constellations in Astrology
by Robson.

If you wish to understand the nature of the fixed stars through their mythic origins, consider Ariel Guttman & Kenneth Johnson's book titled: Mythic Astrology, 1996. And you may also enjoy The New Patterns in the Sky - Myths & Legends of the Stars by Julius D. W. Staal, 1988.

I hope all of this will help you, as you continue to read, delineate and grow. Please feel free to email or post questions. Though I may sometimes be slow to answer, you can always count on my response.
